Due to a change in plans my newly built MTD Lawnflite 548 is up for sale.
All of the new parts have been obtained from Rons bits and include,
1) Four 6 inch steel wheels
2) Tyres 2 x13 inch front and 2 x 15 inch rear, I also have a set of aggressive knobblies fitted to the front wheels as advised at the test meeting.
3) T drive including rear 25 mm kart axle.
4) Front and rear alluminium hubs.
5 kill toggle and lead.
6) Inner tubes
The seat pan has been lowered after the test meeting along with additional belt guides fitted to the slipper clutch pulleys. The brakes are cable operated cadet kart brakes. It is fitted with the original 11.5hp B&S with the governor removed.
The lawnmower has only done the test meeting at present and although we had some teething issues went well when the belts stayed on. We have added an additional clutch spring and some belt guides on the
clutch pulleys.
I am not after all the money put into it and certainly not the time spent so will be looking for around £475ono.
I also have a tidy trailer which Is newly built with 350kg indespension type units on mini hubs, I have just fitted three brand new 8 inch x 4.50 wheels, tyres and steel mudguards. It is 1m wide and 1.7m long, and also has a centre ladder to use as a motorcycle trailer. I wont sell this untill my lawnmower goes as I will try to make as many meetings as I can until it sells.. I am after £175 for the trailer.
I will email photos to anybody intersted failing that I will list it on Fleabay with loads of pictures. We are based in West Yorkshire or telephone 07528729784 ask for funnily enough steven.
Cheers

hello everyone,
Heres another stupid novice question. We all have to be associate members to be in the pits. Does the pits include the whole area allocated to lawnmower racing. The reason I am asking is because if we have anybody interested they will probably enter the pits to look around and ask questions but, as I did at the 6 hours, won;t know they are doing anything wrong, we could put them off if we ask them to move out of that area. How do you deal with it at a show meeting. I would imagine some people will be interested when they see lawnmower racing.
Its a pity you don't do day licenses as it would be good to be able to bring some friends and get them to try it out, I assume it is some health and safety thingymujig.
cheers

Thinking over things I have decided to stick with the idea of a group 4 but if anything comes up for sale at a cheap enough price group 3 or 4 I may invest to get on the track sooner.

I have started gutting the Lawnflite 548 today removing the bonnet, engine and some of the linkages on the underside its a right rotter few years of grass here and there.

Plan is to take it back to bare chassis then begin strengthening it as and where required (everywhere).

Pictures to follow soon of build in progress.

P.S. Could do with some idea of steel gauge to use for the front axle.

Speak soon
