Weight reduction
Hi all, I've looked through the forum and the regs and I want to build a class 4. It seems any 'newbies' when asking what mower to buy just get told 'come to a race' but that's not really an option until next year so here I am! I have a few questions.

I know I need to get a mower homologated before doing any mods. Is literally any mower with a bonnet allowed? (except the Templar Tracer, or any variant thereof)

The regs don't say anything about weight reduction. Can I drill holes in the chassis to reduce weight? (without compromising strength of course).

Which gearboxes do you guys use - manual or hydro?

And the engine part confuses me also. It says (quite specifically) Briggs 28 L-head, Loncin, and then 'otherwise limited to 360cc'. Does that literally mean ANY engine under 360cc?

Cheers guys, hope to hear back soon!

RE: Weight reduction
Hi,
I'm sure I answered this earlier today but the reply isn't here any more...
Either way, start by emailing technical@nwlmra.org

Don't worry about weight reduction yet. Get the handling sorted first, it's the key to going fast
For engines, we use single cylinder air cooled lawn mower engines up to 360cc, apart from a couple of others that we've allowed as listed in the Handbook
